Our mission is to provide basic needs services to low-income households, while encouraging their steps toward stability. Our Community Food Pantry program fulfills this mission, in that, we maintain a well-stocked food pantry that provides free groceries to food insecure households.

Any Marshall County resident can access the Community Food Pantry once a month. The pantry is open four times per week and is staffed by volunteers. Clients must complete light paperwork and provide proof of address for everyone in their household, then they are accompanied by a volunteer as they “shop” through our grocery area.

Clients can expect to receive supplemental food support (based on household size), which usually provides enough meals for a 7 day period. Often our food offering can last much longer, especially when combined with simple, staple home-pantry items. Food inventories are gathered in many fashions. Individual and church group donations are often dropped-off throughout the day.

Our Clothing Closet uplifts our overall mission by supplying quality clothing and household items to those in need. We receive all of our good through community donations and volunteers work to sort and stock the clothing pantry. The items are presented in the style of a second-hand clothing store, which adds a casual shopping experience. All of the items are provided free of charge.

Households can access the clothing pantry six times a year. We are the lead service provider to households that have experienced catastrophic loss of property (usually by house fire) and we suspend all limitations for families facing this extreme need. The pantry is open two days throughout the week and volunteers provide the service delivery. Clients must complete paperwork consistent with our other services.

Project Rise Up is a one-to-one short-term mentorship program to help people rise up out of circumstances they aren’t happy with. We offer help identifying needs, setting goals and guidance in how to meet those goals.

The Neighborhood Center is committed to making the holidays brighter for our neighbors in need. We are a community steward for holiday donations of food, clothing, and toys.

For Thanksgiving, monetary gifts and food donations begin in October and peak two weeks before Thanksgiving. It is important to pre-order food and to coordinate volunteer labor to sort and package the groceries.

Christmas is a polarizing time of the year. Some families dread this time of year because they just can’t make ends meet. Our Community Christmas Coalition can help by providing families with food, toys, clothing, and even gift cards to go towards buying presents for children.

Applications for both programs are open in October and are then processed by staff for selection.
